The ongoing discovery phase in President Trump's $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the BBC, filed in Florida federal court in December 2025 over edited footage from a January 2021 speech in a documentary, has produced repeated procedural disputes that support traders' 72.5% consensus on no liability finding. A magistrate judge recently ordered Trump to complete a deposition by December 11 or risk sanctions including possible dismissal, while the BBC continues to challenge jurisdiction, seek additional records, and deny that the edits meet the legal threshold for defamation. With discovery set to close December 18 and no trial date set, the case remains far from any ruling on liability, consistent with historical patterns in high-profile media suits where early motions and delays often prevent verdicts.
